Why I Don’t Pose Newborns

Babies Come with their Unique Personalities

I am a mom to three very different kids. Even when I was pregnant with them I could clearly tell they all had unique personalities, by how much or how little they moved and kicked, or how they seemed to respond to the sounds around us. When they were born, nothing changed. One always had her hands in her face while she slept, one never slept, and one was such a cuddler!

As a photographer my philosophy has always been to capture portraits that truly portray the person. Each newborn is different and I love capturing those unique gestures and characteristics each parent recognizes in their baby.

You’re Baby is Perfect Just the way they Are

Babies are just so perfect. They have perfectly fuzzy heads, sweet smells, and delicate skin. I want to create artwork that reminds you of all of these wonderful, fleeting things. I never add props or clutter that distract from your baby. Just timeless, simple portraits that you will cherish for years to come.

I like to pose newborns in a natural led posing style. This means I photograph your baby doing baby things. They could be tucked on their tummies or wrapped in a comfortable blanket, or cradled safely in mom’s arms. The safety of your baby is very important to me, that’s why I never put your newborn in unnatural or unsafe positions.
