How to Prepare your Newborn for a Photo Session in 2024

The addition of a new baby can be overwhelming and exhausting! Everyone is trying to find their new normal and adjusting. The day of your newborn photograph session can feel like a mountain to climb just by getting everyone dressed their best and in the car with no mishaps! Here are a few things I suggest doing with your newborn before your session to make your time at your session go a bit smoother!

Make sure you Baby has a Nice Full Belly

About an hour before your session, feed your baby until they are nice and full and content. Once they’re in the car on the way to the studio, they will probably fall asleep and stay asleep. This is great! Bring them into the studio snug and warm right in their carseat and I will help get them out!

Dress your Baby for Ease

I prefer to photograph babies just in their diapers (remember to put a fresh diaper on before you leave the house), so please dress them with just a diaper and an easy to remove outfit (like a front snap or zipper one-piece suit). We want to keep your little newborn content and sleepy as best we can and don’t want to fuss with extra layers!
