What is the “Sitter Session” in Baby Photography?

Everything You Need to Know About Sitter Sessions for Babies

Photographing babies is just one of my favorite things in the whole world! There are so many special stages and opportunities to photograph your growing and changing baby! Although, photographing babies of all ages is something I truly enjoy, a sitter session is hands down my favorite!

When to Book Your Baby’s Sitter Session

A sitter session is simply, the stage where a baby can confidently sit unassisted or supported but is not yet crawling or walking, this stage is usually between 6-9 months. Remember, babies develop at different paces, so if your baby doesn’t fall in that window, it’s OK! During these months, babies not only are sitting, but also laughing, giggling, and generous with smiles. Babies at this age are just so curious and we can get a variety of poses that parents love!

Parents that sign up for my Baby Bundle receive a sitter session as part of the package at a special rate.

What to Wear For a Sitter Session

There are so many cute outfits that fit this specific age of babies. Like most of my sessions, I recommend a solid neutral color for your baby to wear. Don’t be afraid of textures though, a knit romper or gauzy dress can add visual interest to your baby’s portraits. Just make sure the outfit is soft and comfortable and won’t make your baby itchy or hot! I also like to photograph your baby in just their diaper so we can capture all those cute details!

I would also recommend that you as a parent dress in a solid neutral that coordinates with your baby’s outfit. You will absolutely be in some of the portraits we make!
